Ashley Renee’ Kennedy Art Exhibit
My name is Ashley Renee’ Kennedy. I was born on October 18, 1988 in Memphis, Tennessee. My elementary years took place in Bellefontaine, Ohio, then in 1997 my family and I moved to Lima Ohio. My parents are Steve and Renee’ Kennedy. I have a younger sister and brother, Megan and Justin. I graduated from Shawnee High School in 2007. I am now attending the University of Saint Francis located in Fort Wayne Indiana, studying for a degree in Studio Art.
In my senior year of high school, two of my pieces were exhibited in the Kewpee Show at Art Space Lima. While at USF I have had six of my pieces hung in the Drawing Show and nine pieces in the Student Art Show. At the Student Art Show Award ceremony I was awarded with Freshman Achiever Award by the School of Creative Arts. Hanging shows is a vital part of being an artist and to gain experience I have helped hang both the Drawing Show and the Student Show.
I mainly draw in dry mediums but will use ink and some paint at times. My pieces typically are trying to say something to the viewer. They are not just pretty pictures but are made to make you interested and even think. I like to work with both color and black and white. Lately I have been developing a style to incorporate both, simultaneously. Also some of my less realistic pieces have a much more graphic style. I do this to make it edgy and emphasize the subject matter as seen in my robotic pieces. Also the title of the pieces is a key part of the work. I chose each title specifically for the piece and every word is a part of the whole thing.
Finally I would like to thank all of those who have helped me along the way and have always been supportive. This goes out to my family, (Mom, Dad, Megan, Justin, Grandma and Grandpa and all the rest), all my friends, my professors who have taught me so many lessons, and to Danny. Thank you all for you support and love!
